Each season 4heads provides free studio residencies for selected artists. The importance of affordable creative space is essential to the cultural future of New York City. As the cost of work space is beyond the reach of most artists in New York, 4heads felt the need to make some studio spaces available. These studios are open to the public, allowing visitors to Governors Island the opportunity to meet artists at work and to view our historic spaces. Resident’s studios are open weekends from June 24th through September 29th, 11am to 6pm.
4heads partners with youth organizations to offer arts education courses, giving students the chance to study with working artists. For many young people this is a unique opportunity to be exposed to the arts. Governors Island provides a safe park environment in which to learn with lots of open spaces to enjoy.
